"But how are they to

call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?" -Romans 10:14-15

Paul was on to something there,

Now we all know that coming to faith in Jesus can be more complicated, or can even take several years of the Holy Spirit working. But still, those same elements are always present: someone is

a logical progression of how people hear and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ: someone is sent to proclaim the mes-sage, someone hears that message and believes it, then that person calls upon the Lord. Seems simple. sent to proclaim the message, the message is heard and believed, and the new believer calls upon the Lord. Paul was on to something.

Ever since I came to CPC,

This tells me that God has indeed

I’ve been hearing from people about the heart our church has for youth and children in West. I have been particularly struck at how many of our seasonal friends care deeply about these ministries...our summer VBS involvement is a testament to this! sent this congregation to reach out to youth and children in our community and proclaim the love and hope of Jesus Christ. And our congregation has a rich history of this outreach with Church School, Youth Groups, Camps, Interns, Children’s Time in worship, Sunday School, and many committed volunteers.

Now the time has come

But we’re not sending Daniel

to once again bring a staff member on-board to support and join us in this vital ministry of being sent with the Gospel mes-sage to the youth and children in West. Daniel Leupold has recently joined us as the new Coordinator of Youth & Children’s Ministry. for us, we’re asking him to join us all in be-ing sent out to proclaim the Gospel to the young people in West. There are three ways you can join us—turn the page to find out how:

Daniel Leupold—CPC’s new Coordinator for Youth & Children’s Ministry. Welcome!

join us in lifting the children and youth of West to God in prayer, asking that the Holy Spirit empower us to share Jesus’ love with them through relationships, Youth Groups, Sunday School, mission work, worship and outreach events.

Volunteer Ministry Support:

join us in teaching, leading small groups, driving, planning events or mission projects, doing music or crafts, and all sorts of other fun things!

Financial Support:

join us in supporting this new staff position by increas-ing your financial pledge to CPC this fall. We are currently using our re-serve funds, and if spending and giving remain the same as we bring on this new position, we will run out of those by the end of 2008.

Paul was on to something, and it was something really big. We are all being

sent to the children and youth of West...let’s get going!

Looking back, we see that God has blessed us, and nearly everyone who pledged time, talents and treasures to CPC for 2007 is fulfilling those pledges. We are a faithful flock! You will notice in the table to the left that it appears we are under budget in some areas—especially staff expense and CE—keep in mind that we had budgeted for a full year of the new Children’s and Youth Ministry position and Daniel just got here in September.

We look forward to 2008 with prayerful concern. We have had pretty solid cash reserves in the past,

Much like Daniel as he was facing the li-ons, we remain faithful that the Lord will deliver us!

but as we begin to project for 2008, it appears that by the end of the year, those reserves will be depleted. As Stewardship concludes and pledges begin to be made, the Session will be carefully considering where we must go from here.

The Youth Scoop!

A Note From Daniel:

Greetings,

It is so great to be in West Yellowstone! It is a far cry from my former home in the in-ner-city of Minneapolis, MN. Since arriving I have discovered many beautiful and won-drous things. First off, these things you call stars. They fill the air on a clear night with a grandeur and depth that is awe-

Second, I’ve encountered un

inspiring. Several times I’ve been tempted to pull off the road while driving and lay out in the bed of my truck to gaze at them. Add these to the majesty of the mountains and the miles of open forest, and I’ve concluded I must be in "God’s country". -controlled intersections. Who would think such a thing existed. Upon arriving here I sat for 10 minutes at an intersection trying to de-cide what to do. There were no signal lights, not even a stop sign to direct my way. I took some solace in the fact I was not the only one taken aback by this. All over town I noticed cars hesitating at intersections and stopping in the middle of the streets without warning. Blinkers indicating left turn while the car turned right. Back where I’m from every aspect of one’s driving is directed by a myriad of signs and signals. Ahhhh, the feeling of freedom that comes from driving in West Yellowstone.

Finally, the most beautiful thing I’ve experienced is the generous hospitality of

In His Grip,

Daniel

so many at CPC. Everyone has been just so friendly and helpful toward me. Although my former home wasn’t ideal, it was home for many years and a little hard to leave. However, coming here has not been hard at all thanks to everyone who has helped me to make the transition. I’m so looking forward to settling in and becoming a part of the West Yellowstone community. Praise be to God!

Alpha is Back!

By Jackie Klatt, Laura & Steven Lympus

Alpha has returned to CPC on Tuesday nights at 5:30pm!

Alpha is a practical intro course in Christianity,

Topics range from "Christianity: Boring, Untrue, and Irrelevant?" and "Why and How Should I Read the Bible?" to "What Does the Holy Spirit Do?" and "Does God Heal Today?"

The program is free (donations are accepted for dinner), and childcare is provided.

This is a great way to introduce yourself or someone else to Christianity, to go deeper in your faith, or come to a safe place to ask questions. Alpha is also the best place to find fellowship in a small-group setting.

where each night we gather for a delicious meal, a video presentation and small group discussions.

Last winter’s participants described the Alpha Course

* "Renewal & reinforcement of my beliefs" * "Energized my faith"

* "Provided Christian fellowship & opportunity to develop relationships"

* "Development of leadership skills" * "Putting my life in order

on their feedback forms as a benefit to their lives in the following ways:

Though the course is underway, it’s not too late to "Join us in Progress"!
