It is our mission to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul; and to make disciples.

NURSERY - K MINISTRY

Childcare at CPC is very important to us and to that end we have...

  • A room designated for Nursery - K care and ministry.  It features a comfortable safe environment with carpet, TV/DVD, lots of games & toys, a kid's size bathroom and its own emergency exit to the outdoors.
  • A paid Nursery Coordinator who oversees this ministry.  This person coordinates volunteers and has developed bible based, age appropriate, learning activities.  It is our desire that the nursery be more than just a "babysitting station."
  • All our staff and volunteers go through an application process and are given background checks before they can work with any children.
  • A dedicated group of volunteer and Elders who serve on the Christian Education committee and are always looking for new ways to make our ministry to God's littlest ones the best it can be.
More information on specific policies and procedures are available at the church when you check your child into the Nursery.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION (CE)

There are many opportunities for everyone to get involved in learning at CPC.

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL (SS) - 1-5th Grades: We use the Rotation Workshop model. This model or method of teaching emphasizes creative repetition. By the time children are finished with a "Rotation" on one specific Bible story or passage, they know it! The Sunday School year is broken up into 6 Rotations of about 4 Sundays each. Each Rotation focuses on one story in the Bible.  For example, we spent 4 Sundays learning about David & Goliath. Each Sunday during this Rotation featured a different learning method (or style).  Every Sunday begins with music and the reading of the story with an emphasis on the theme. The first Sunday we introduced the story and the then the children put on costumes and acted it out as a drama while we video it.  The 2nd Sunday featured fun games that continued to emphasize the themes in the story. The 3rd workshop was a craft and the final Sunday workshop was "Movie Night". We made popcorn and projected a cartoon movie of David & Goliath on the wall. It was just like being in the theaters.  Regular Sunday School for 1-5 Grades runs Sept. to May annually.
  • CHILDREN'S CHURCH (CC) - 1-5th Grades:  During our regular worship time, the children meet for about half of it to do their own worship.  Here they learn about the different aspects and roles in worship.  They actually do the parts themselves.  This times includes music, prayer, scripture readings and reciting the Lord's Prayer and learning the Apostles Creed.  From time to time our children's church kids lead the regular worship in the main sanctuary.  ALSO, we take time during CC to learn about baptism, communion, and all the other symbols and rituals/traditions of worship. Children's Church meets throughout the school year, Sept. to May.
  • YOUTH MINISTRY - 6-12 Grades: We have a youth groups for both Jr. & Sr. High students. Our Jr. High program meets on Sunday nights at 7 PM for an hour.  It features high energy games followed by a biblically based, relevant, devotional. In addition the Jr. Highers meet at the church once a month for outreach events such as Game Night or Movie Night.  The Sr. High group meets on Monday nights at 7 PM for an hour and a half.  We call this group "The Upper Room." These meetings are much more low-key and laid back.  The first half is spent in fellowship.  The internet is available as well as board games and food.  The second half, about an hour to 45 min. is spent digging into God's word. Right now we are reading through the entire Gospel of Jesus Christ to make sure we are all rooted in the understanding and knowledge of Jesus.
  • JR & SR HIGH CAMPS & RETREATS: We offer retreats and summer camps for both age groups.  In addition we have an annual youth mission trip. Last year we served in the inner-city of Seattle. This year we'll be partnering with YouthWorks Inc. to serve on the Yakama Indian Reservation in WA (www.youthworks.com).
  • ADULT EDUCATION: On Sunday mornings and throughout the week we offer several Adult bible studies.  Sunday morning study is called "Pathfinders" and meets at 8:30 AM. During the week there is an adult study on Monday afternoons and one on Wednesday mornings.  Call the church for specific times and meeting dates.
  • ALPHA: Our church offers the Alpha program periodically throughout the year. This is a short course in basic Christianity.  It's a great opportunity to explore one's faith in a friendly, safe setting. Alpha starts off with a meal, followed by a video presentation, and finishes with small group discussions.  Everyone is welcome! Call the church to find out when its meeting.
